Hi I’m Mikki and I’m so glad you’re here.
The Hebrew word הִנֵּנִי [hee-nay-nee] translates to “here I am.” The word signifies a mental, emotional, and spiritual presence; a readiness to grow into your true purpose and that’s why you’re here.
As someone who’s been in counseling I know the fear that comes with being vulnerable. I celebrate you for taking this step. I believe you are the expert of your life and I will walk alongside your experience with compassion, authenticity, and bit of humor. I hope to create a space that allows us to work together to process feelings, memories, and limiting beliefs that may be too difficult to manage alone. I am honored to accompany you on this journey to becoming the best version of yourself, so let’s begin.
More about me.
I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor in North Carolina and National Certified Counselor. I am also registered as a Professional Counselor Telehealth Provider (Credential #767) in South Carolina (see the SC Telehealth Provider Webpage here). I hold a certificate in play therapy. I primarily use a humanistic approach with person-centered and Internal Family Systems (IFS) techniques. As an EMDR Certified Therapist, I use EMDR to explore and reprocess past memories and negative cognitions.
I have experience working in hospice supporting grieving families surrounding the death of a loved one and helping them find purpose and meaning in hopeless times. While working in outpatient therapy I have worked with children, adolescents, and adults from various backgrounds with issues related to grief and loss, trauma, anxiety, depression, relationship issues, self-esteem, and other mental health concerns. I understand that it may be difficult to open up when there’s a history of trauma, mistrust, or damaged relationships, and I wholeheartedly believe that rapport comes more naturally when a therapist is empathic and nonjudgmental.
